"Beyond the Boom" with the Honorable Francis Logan launched the first of a series of CXO luncheons to be held by L7 Solutions in 2008
16-Apr 2008
Thursday 27th March marked the date for this executive affair, whereby special guest, Hon Francis Logan MLA, Minister for Energy, Resources, Industry and Enterprise spoke about the Future of Western Australia “Beyond the Boom”, a very topical issue in today’s volatile economic environment.
Minister Logan has a long history in the environment and resources sectors, commencing his political career as a member for the Australian Labor Party in 1981. Since his inception, Minister Logan has occupied a number of branch, executive and national positions across the ALP and was elected the MLA for Cockburn in 2001. After serving a number of ministerial positions, Minister Logan was appointed the Minister for Energy, Resources, Industry and Enterprise in 2006 under the Carpenter Labor Government. Minister Logan was invited to address the function in relation to the future of Australia’s fastest growing economy ‘beyond the boom’, and the measures that are being put into place to continue this phase of economic growth.
Held at the Boatshed Restaurant in South Perth, Perth’s budding skyline provided a fitting backdrop for the day’s subject, which focused on sustaining business growth and success post WA’s current economic boom. Minister Logan emphasised that in order to maintain business growth and potentially diversify business strategy, organisations must plan beyond Western Australia’s booming resources sector in order to further develop.
The Minister discussed what the government is doing at the present time by way of investment in other areas of the economy to minimise the effect of the downturn once the boom concludes and ensure the economy continues to thrive.
A number of high calibre guests attended the CXO Luncheon, which gave L7 Solutions’ clients, business partners and executive staff members the opportunity to converse over the topic of the day and how best to plan and prepare from a business perspective for the inevitable changes in WA’s economic environment.
Steve North, L7’s General Manager of Advisory Services commented on the success of the luncheon. “The CXO Luncheon allowed attendees to take a break from their hectic diaries to network with peers and enjoy the Ministers informative speech. The day was a great success and we look forward to the next in the series.”
