L7 awarded Contract for IP Telephony at Perth Airport

2-Oct 2007

Construction is almost complete on a new office building for Perth Airport administration staff located in the domestic terminal precinct. Staff are due to move into the new office in November 2007. The complex is named ALPHA and Perth Airport staff will be located on the third floor. This is the first phase of refurbishment and expansion within the Airport’s office precinct. External consultants were engaged to scrutinise the development, specifically when it came to implementing new technology.

Through a public tender process local IT integrator, L7 Solutions were selected over other competing multinational integrators, to deliver the new Cisco IP Telephony system. Some consideration was given to expanding the existing, aging PABX system but this option was found to be limiting and did not adequately support Perth Airports short and long term IP Telephony objectives. Rather, the Cisco state-of-the-art technology was found to better align with Perth Airport’s long term strategic direction.

“L7 was able to demonstrate they had the necessary capability and experience to deliver a solution that would enable Perth Airport to achieve its objective to establish an IP Telephony foundation that integrated with the existing network environment and further supported the future objective of delivering IP Telephony across the entire Perth Airport site. L7’s knowledge and experience of implementing in particular Cisco IP Telephony solutions, and their ability to understand our requirements, were the main differentiators in being chosen as the preferred supplier.” commented Terry King, IT&T Manager, Perth Airport.
